Elapsed time for an average-length
research paper (~40 pages of double-spaced A4, including figures and tables; approx 10,000 words) is usually about two weeks,
if I’m free. ..............................
However, work is often booked ahead
of time, and it is strongly recommended that authors contact me at least six weeks before a draft is ready, if assistance
is likely to be required urgently.
..............................
Late arrival of a booked
document will be taken to free me to work first on the next document to arrive.
..............................
Recent
research papers have mostly cost in the region of £275 +/– £100, based on a figure of £30 per chargeable hour (i.e. excluding administration and time spent familiarising
with material that an experienced editor can be expected to know).
..............................
The charges for London-based doctoral candidates’ PhD theses,
following free advice on preparation of material, are currently £20 per chargeable hour, with follow-up consultation
meetings free of charge.
Amendments to late-stage Revise &
Resubmits, for either method above, possibly including copies of letters to the editor and reviewers, and accounting for specific
journal style, requiring special care, can take longer than usual. ..............................
